Pharmacy First will enable community pharmacists to supply prescription-only medicines, including antibiotics and antivirals where clinically appropriate, to treat seven common health conditions without the need to visit a GP.

Conditions We Can Treat:

Sinusitis (for ages 12 years and over)

Sore throat (for ages 5 years and over)

Ear infection (acute otitis media) (for ages 1–17 years)

Infected insect bites (for ages 1 year and over)

Impetigo (for ages 1 year and over)

Shingles (for ages 18 years and over)

Uncomplicated urinary tract infections (UTIs) (for women aged 16–64 years)
Who Can Use the Service:

You are registered with an NHS GP practice in England

You meet the age and condition criteria above

Your symptoms are assessed by the pharmacist as suitable for treatment under the service
What to Expect:

A private consultation with a trained pharmacist

Advice, and if needed, a prescription-only medicine supplied through the NHS
